whirlwinds for the raaf?

iv'e been working on small what if project involving whirlwinds in the sw pacific, and i've heard that the whirlwind was offered to the raaf,i'm not sure if it was in place of spitfires or not but i'm keen to find out if there is any information out there?

I did a search on Wikipedia, and there's no mention of a foreign customer ever purchasing or operating the Westland Whirlwind. Has anyone had success in figuring out if the Whirlwind was ever offered to foreign customers.
