Following up on a previous post:
I'm trying to document the history of the post-war 2" Royal Navy rocket. It's mentioned in passing in any number of places, for instance, an RAF history talking about using them in the Falklands due to the well-publicized issues with the SNEB on ships.
But there's nothing I can find on the history of this weapon in RN service. I think it pre-dates the use of the SNEB in RAF use, but that means it could be anything from the immediate post-war into the late 1960s when the RP-3 retired. It looks like it was designed with air-to-air use in mind, which would place it in the 1950s rather than 60s.
Does anyone have good references for this weapon and its history? I see a few other threads mentioning books that might mention it, notably Rakiety bojowe 1900-1970, but I don't have access to any of these.
