G'day gents

Currently reading over article on the British Short Stirling heavy bomber.
Whilst reading, I was intrigued by:

Prior to the Munich Agreement of 1938, Shorts had received a pair of orders for the Stirling, each for the production of 100 aircraft; however, as a result of Munich, the Ministry of Aircraft Production (MAP) enacted 'Plan L', under which Stirling orders were rapidly increased to 1,500 aircraft.

Can I please request if anyone has any details of this 'Plan-L'?

RAF Expansion Scheme L, 28/4/38. See for example http://www.heritage.norfolk.gov.uk/Data/Sites/2/media/scottow/historicalappraisalpt2rafexpansion.pdf

Scheme L

Described as an accelerated Scheme J. Planned completion date March 1940 (15 months sooner than J).
It consisted of:
57 bomber squadrons (1,352 bombers, have also seen this total broken down as 47 heavy bomber and 26 medium bomber squadrons)
40 fighter squadrons (608 fighters, increased ratio of fighter to bombers, reflecting the outcome of the Inskip recommendations for more active defence, Scheme M in October increased this further to 800 fighters)
Total number of combat aircraft (including overseas): 2,863
8 new flying training schools (it was found there were only resources for four)
Additional manpower required included; 2,069 observers, 3,867 wireless op/gunners and 554 gunners.

I wonder if the author article you read actually meant Scheme M as that had a greater focus on the four-engined bomber fleet within the bomber allocation to increase striking power.

Thank you my dear alertken and Hood, very helpful and insightful!
