That is Convairs vertical test rig for the XT40, to check systems for the XFY as it was being built. The article its in by Francis J Allen has a paragraph on the Hummingbird project. As I posted here years ago, I have spoken to all the authors (US/ UK) that I could track down that mention that program and not one can give me an original source. Another case of repeat, repeat, repeat. Does anyone have Mr Allen's contact info? I can find no Hummingbird data in NARA or Langley other than the Lockheed XV model. Help?
