What is this Aircraft Project ?

With that size of the motor you are looking at something like 300-350hp...not enough for something of this size.
This thing would be a dog of an airplane with poor climb, poor fuel economy, and low ceiling...350hp is good for something under 5,000lbs..we have a 350hp turbocharged FADEC motor on a ~4,000lb gross bird right now and it is just about as low as you can go and have a good plane. Our aircraft is significantly smaller than this in length & span (still seats 4)...maybe it is not a flat 6 but a v6? Those put out more like 600hp which is ok....personally I would guess it would need more like 1,000hp at least...
So what could this bird's purpose be? Why just 1 far too small motor? Just seems too be completely unrealistic given available 6cyl piston engines. Maybe it has a very special motor related to its mystery mission?

Russian mechanic and amateur aeroplane designer Anatoly Kuzmin also designed the Ku-17 "Courier" while working at Polar station O.Bolshoi Lyakhovsky on the edge of the Arctic Ocean area. It resembles more of an aero-sleigh than an aircraft.

It is evidently intended for long-duration flights: there is a bunk and toilet for the off-duty pilot and the large delta inboard wing sections appear to be full of fuel.
The small engine, soaring airfoil and high aspect ratio suggest leisurely progress: it must rely on its low flying speed to be able to take off at all. I wouldn't be surprised if the engine can be switched off when conditions are favourable for soaring flight. Such motor-gliders are common enough, though not usually as big as this one.
There is also a work table for the off-duty pilot when awake and some kind of equipment bay aft of the crew bulkhead. So the craft is presumably intended for scientific research of some kind.
But why a work table? Maybe its just a dinner table?
Or am I being too naive and the question is all about what kind of research?
