X_Plane is a flight simulator with a large and active user base which contributes a lot of free meshes. Although the mesh format is unique, the Blender modelling program allows you to export into more common formats.
The image I've attached is a quick-and-dirty combining of two models, a MiG-25 and a Su-27, to look approximately like one of the Su-15 derivatives described by Overscan here:

I used Carrara Studio for the render, but the texturing and lighting are very crude and preliminary. I just wanted to show the possibilities for modelling at this stage.

There are limits on the models - personal use only, but none as far as I can see on posting rendered images.
