The very words "Alternate History" or worse still "What-ifs?" bring a mixture of scorn, distaste or indifference to many historians. Many users of this site avoid the pages here like a seedy bar.
I would argue, however, that the splendid people who grit their teeth and enter into the spirit of the threads have provided gems of information and discussion which are not found anywhere else online.
I can add that these members have taught me far more than many of the books in my vast but chaotic library. I won't name names as there are rather a lot of you. But please accept.my thanks for the work you have put in.
