The Mitchell Institute has published an Excel spreadsheet that shows the entire USAF inventory by aircraft type, active/Reserve/Guard status, and fiscal year; a great resource for historical research.

Fun fact: the trainer fleet in the year I was born was 30% larger than the entire Air Force is now.
 
Looks to be well-researched. They even mention the sole YOH-6 the USAF for Helicopter IFR test flying! :)
