This little-known competition found in the Spangenberg Index apparently produced no winner:

  • Bell D-179
  • Bell D-220 Convertiplane
  • Cessna (designation unknown)
  • Doak 15A
  • Fairchild M-229
  • Goodyear (designation unknown)
  • Hiller (designation unknown)
  • North American ESO-7607
  • Piasecki PR-107
  • Temco (designation unknown)

Note that the Bell D-220 Convertiplane is not the XV-3 (Model 200), although it is probably a related design. Any other details about this competition and/or its contenders is most welcome!

My dear Stargazer,

the Bell D-220 was observation-recce version of XV-3 powered
by two General Electric T58 turbine engines.
