Hi everyone,
The impact of Carter's and Reagan's administrations have been regularly discussed in some secret projects threads, but never really in an extensive manner.
With the archived evidence we have, how would procurement differ under a second Carter term, especially in terms of types and numbers chosen (accounting for potential influence of Congress)?
From what I've read so far, Carter seemed more interested in conventionnal carriers over more Nimitz-class nuclear ones, didn't want B1s and didn't seem interested in producing the F-117 beyond prototypes for R&D. Meanwhile, Reagan pushed for battleship modernizations and cancelled the US Roland SAM system. But what does the evidence actually say?
