Back in 2011 I posted the preliminary drawing for the 'Flightdeck' version of this March 1942 design, which would have resulted in an Escort Carrier with refueling capabilities. This is the dedicated oiler version. Armament is 10 x 20mm Anti-Aircraft guns and 4 x single 5inch mounts. As TinWing pointed out in the thread on the Escort Carrier version of this design, one of the reasons (other than bad intel) given for the failure of the attempt by Saratoga and Lexington to relieve Wake Island was the lack of high speed oilers. Lexington's task force had a 20 knot oiler (USS Neosho), Saratoga's task force had to make do with a 14 knot oiler (USS Neches).
