During early GOR.339 studies emphasis was put on reducing RCS, including hiding engine front faces with centerbodies, RAM treatment in intakes, avoiding corner reflectors, and canopy treatment with gold foil. It was also noted that higher sweep wings were better for frontal RCS reduction. Apparently the Vulcan had an RCS 1/5th that of the Victor, similar to the rather smaller Canberra.
A number of GOR.339 designs used engine centerbodies.
