The Type-XXI was important in a lot of ways, but had the Ursel rockets made it into service I think it could have further reshaped Cold War submarine equipment, at least in the immediate postwar period.

Great picture, but in the part "Fate" you could have mentioned the Type XXI submarine Wilhelm Bauer, originally designated U-2540, which served in the Bundesmarine and is now exhibited at the Maritime Museum in Bremerhaven, Germany. It is the only Type XXI U-Boat to survive. IMHO you didn't mention it yet, because a visit to the Maritime Museum in Bremerhaven is still on your bucket list. ;) :)
