I have noticed that the Mk-41 mod 3 installation on the Type 123 Brandenburg Class Frigates appears to have space reserved forward of the existing pair of 8 cell VLS modules for another pair. I am curious as to whether this is intended for future upgrade as seen on the RAN ANZAC class, i.e. space and weight reserved for a future doubling in size of the original VLS?
Also I have been hitting a wall with my Google Foo trying to determine whether the Mk41 Mod3 is a point defence or a tactical length system (again as fitted to the ANZACs). Does anyone know, or know where I can find this information?
Thanks in advance.
