rather old news but here is a model of one of the contenders,it's a little bit different version of the MRTP-70 concept

Seems to be a bit of a translation issue here. "Assault boat" in English implies a landing craft of some sort to insert amphibious assault troops. The vessels shown here seem to be fast attack craft.

That MRTP-70 image must be pretty old if Polyphem is still being mentioned since it was cancelled a decade ago (and Polyphem was never in the same category as the others listed).

sry,i just copied the news and the headline,it should better be descrıbed as FAC and yes you are right the mrtp-70 is a very old design concept,i just posted it here to compare it to the new model of the FAC shown. 10 FAC are to be produced for the turkish Navy.

lost in the translation as already guessed . Hücumbot is a FAC while a direct translation can have problems between choosing between Attack and Assault , words hücum covers simultaneously .

That design looks really tight -- that's probably the only place they could find the volume, and more importantly the hull depth. I'd hate to be on the bridge when one kicked off, unless it was a cold-launch missile like that abortive VL Crotale missile.

Looks like a speedboat-ified Visby with no military justification. Fun toy for navy personnel, of course.

They could launch anti-ship missiles from semitrailers or from aircraft. The latter would have the additional benefit of synchronized attack with ARMs & AShMs.
