Some people in a Discord I frequent were talking about the Hawker Siddeley P1154 and the discussion started to focus on a VTOL aircraft that needed to inject water into the stream to keep the ducts from melting. To me, that sounds like it might be a Russian aircraft, or possibly the Dornier experiment, but I'm at a loss on it. Any help would be appreciated.

Harrier uses water injection, but not exactly to "keep the ducts from melting." Rather for the same reasons other turbines use water injection into the combustion stage -- to increase mass flow and lower turbine inlet temperature.
