Thank you so much for those pictures ! The... AEW Tu-4 has always been a favorite of mine. Since I saw it in Le Fana de l'Aviation visiting the same museum 25 years ago. Imagine the arguing "It's a B-29 ! No, it's a Tu-4 ! But it has turboprops like a Tu-95 ! Yet, it's an AWACS ! Wait, in the 1970's ?"
One of the weirdest post-war, ultimate B-29 developments: along with the Guppies. The B-29 extended family tree really took exotic turns !

Is the quad-jet in the background one of CAAC Boeing 707s ? modified by the military ? the nose looks a bit like the French DC-8 SARRIGUE.
Was it an Electronic Warfare platform ?

Not sure which tu-16 based airliner this is

According to Wikipedia (I know...) China got Tu-124s but no Tu-104s.

The jet is a Dc-8, it was modified by Orbis to be used as a flying hospital

I recently went to the China Aviation Museum and had a blast. The place is huge and has so many planes on display. If you're into aviation, you'll love it. It's like a treasure trove of aviation history. There are old fighter jets, helicopters, and even some cool experimental planes. The museum is well-maintained and has a lot of information about each exhibit. I took a deutsche bahn train to get there, and the journey itself was quite enjoyable. The train was comfortable and had great views along the way. It's always nice to relax and watch the scenery go by. Once I arrived, it was easy to get to the museum from the train station.
One of the highlights for me was seeing the different aircraft up close. You can walk around them and even peek inside some of them. It was fascinating to see the evolution of aviation technology over the years.

The presentation wasn’t great. There are multiple mig-15 bis in the indoor section, but no I’m-10. In fact, with the multiple sections closed, there isn’t a single area where some important aircraft like the Il-10 and Y-5 can be seen up close. While I appreciate the effort to make the great hall clustered, J-10 1002, J-11 and JH-7 just disappearing isn’t great. The cave section which used to be a hidden hanger has also been closed for renovation for more than a year. Definitely visiting the museum again in maybe two year.

Tu-124. In Tupolev The man and his aircraft by Paul Duffy and Andrei Kandalov, Airlife 1996, there is an entry on p.136,, stating that
... an unspecified number were delivered to the Chinese Air Force starting in 1966, where their role is thought to have been as VIP transports. As Tupolev are not aware of the Chinese deliveries, it is presumed that they were delivered from Soviet Air Force numbers.
