The  design of the remarkable battlefield transporter Arado Ar 232,  also known as the "Tausendfüssler", was subject to several proposals along it`s life. Some early ideas envisaged fitting not the innovative set of central twinned wheels wheels but  two fuselage sided tracks, 4,2 to 5 meters long and 32 cms wide, or a suction boundary layer control system using a Walter cold cycle device. Also a version with twin floatplanes was proposed, and the eraly A`s carried a four-blade 4,4 m propeller. More to see here:
