Fascinating concept, a VG airliner. Can imagine watching the wings swing from the window while in flight... :)

Any idea what the designation of this version might have been?
 
The longer I look at the pictures the more and more I think it’s a highly speculative home-made April Fool’s joke, isn’t it? ;) .
 
Well, it certainly doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Swing wings help with transonic and supersonic flight, but at subsonic speeds their utility is much more limited... certainly far too limited to be worth the added weight, cost and complexity.
 
No, from a Dr Who story "The Faceless Ones". Basically aliens kidnapping holidaymakers using this to take them up to their spacestation for their own nefarious ends. The first two shots were taken from the tv screen at the time. The colour shots are from a recently discovered home movie of Shawcraft Models who made a lot of special props for Dr Who amongst others.
