From the mentioned brochure, which was published in 2000 for an exhibition in the "Deutsches Schiffahrtsmuseum",
Bremerhaven (shipping museum) at the occasion of Hellmut Walters 100th birthday.
The design from 1933 was made by Hellmut Walter, when he still was a freelance designer for the design department
of the Naval Office. The Hellmut Walter KG was founded in 1935. The brochure explicitely notes, that the production
branch in the KZ Neuengamme wasn't part of that company, but of the Carl Walther GmbH, Thuringia ...
The VB 60 was the predecessor of the VB 80, the first submarine with a Walter engine, that was actually built, the
220 t boat was the direct püredecessor of the Type XVII, built in two variants (WA 201 and Wk 202) with two
vessels of each variant. The last design in this field by the Walter company was the civil deep diving vessel "Stint"
from 1967.
