Does anybody have so good, high quality cutaway drawings or schematics of this turbofan? I've a promotional brochure from SNECMA of the M53-P2 printed around 30-35 years ago but there is only one small drawing. It's an interesting engine, possibly the sole single shaft turbofan I know of that wasn't an experimental design.
Aside from simplicity, what would be the reason for such a design choice? It's obviously less efficient than having a second shaft for the low pressure stage and, on top of that, the M53 doesn't weight much less compared to other engines of comparable performance and of the same era.
