Got my Le Fana copy today, Alexis did a great job ! A pity,
that available space was very limited for that theme, but the
other themes, like the Flamant/SO.95 story, are very good, too.
I post the drawings, where some views are missing, and those
that weren't used here in a lower resolution. Those, who want

First of all thanks for the great pictures of the Nord programs. I have always been intrigued by the potential of the ducted fan concept. I think as more of our efforts civil and military take place in urban environments, the enclosed fan will become a necessity of VTOL operations.

Ah! Anyway my question is in regards to the N.500 Militaire. Is it me or do the fans appear to be significantly off centerline. How would they be able to maintain a horizontal attitude with the aircraft?

I have seen many ducted fan initiatives of late. But they all seem applied to light vehicles. Is the ducted fan applicable in say, a gunship like the N.500 Militaire and expect to equal/better the helicopter with current technology?

BTW, those diagrams are very illustrative of the N.500 family of designs. Congrats.

Yes! I wouldn't be surprised if Cameron's team did some research and saw the Nord designs.

Dear Boys and Girls, here is a picture of a model of the SNCAN Nord Rocade light transport "project" based on the Helcade principle and presented at the 1965 Paris Salon......

I don't understand the use of the name "Rocade"; as I thought "Rocade" meant "By-pass" as in a motorway or dual-carriageway???......

The picture comes from the 1st July 1965 issue of Aviation Magazine International......

Rocade also means swap/rotation/exchange.
Makes sense for a city commuter.
