I know the article is so long,but I care only about these ideas of 1936

The scheme on first page described auto-piloted flying bomb, which pilot aimed on target, set on autopilot and bailed out in special armored cabin.

Basically, the Italians tried to do it with Aeronautica Lombardia A.R. (albeit it was radio-controlled during terminal dive, not merely auto-piloted):
