Hi,


the SIPA S-30 was two seat high-wing tourist aircraft,it had a tailless configuration
and pusher engine,the SIPA S-20 was also a side-by-side two seat low-wing tourist
aircraft,projects only.

Years ago, I've got thsoe pictures from Ton Meynders via the airwarfareforum. Original
source, I think was the French magazine Les Ailes, but I'm not sure.
And at least it reached the mock-up stage !

I have no way of checking the source, but I made some notes many years ago that a prototype of the S-20 was actually built (the one at the 1946 Paris Salon), but that this aircraft was dismantled before it had ever flown.
Anyone to confirm/deny this?

JUST A QUESTION !

In an other hand, I read on "Le Fana"
the Sipa S 20 was a 4 seats airplane......................

Good question Paul !
Judging the photo, there would have been room behind the front seats, although
with the assumption, that the cockpit windows more or less were marking the edges
of the cabin, there hardly would have been much room for the rear seats. A possible
explanation, to my opinion, could be, that the S.20 was more or less designed as a
two seater, but could have carried, if ´necessary, four people, although those on the
rear seats probably would have to had the stature of children. The same was true for
the Morane Saulnier MS.571, marketed as a "3 to 4 seat" aircraft. And taking into account
the load capacity of 450 kg, I can imagine, that it all performance data were based on
the use as a two-seater only.

"S.70" not "S-70". No hyphens please. Until the 1960s French publications and official documents at large used the point sign "." (what Americans call "period").

Seeing this photo again, I remember a discussion, I had, I think in the old airwarfareforum.
The photo to my opinion shows a fuselage, which has a bigger height, than width, similar to the
DH Dragon Rapide. But on the 3-view, the cross section is nearly square. A better photo is attached
(from Minidocavia N°8 "Prototypes De Transport Civil Francais), unfortunately not answering that
question. So I may be wrong with my opinion and 3-view.

Has anyone ever seen any proposed variants of the SIPA S.200 Minijet and S.300 Primary Trainer? Maybe it's just me, but my first thought when seeing them was "lose the second seat, add a machine gun and a couple of small rocket pods, voilà, poor man's attack aircraft." Such tiny vertical tails!

SIPA 20 could be a four-seater if rear passengers sat back-to-back with the pilot.
White Lightning composite kit plane used this configuration to minimize balance hassles when loading the rear seat.

A few people get air sick when riding backwards, but I have only had 1/4,000 tandem skydiving students suffer air sickness when sitting facing the tail of the airplane.
