Hi folks,
Like I always say: Hope this isn’t old news but, while these are not maybe the most practical, I like these patents due to one Sarkis Jelalian nonetheless. Cheers as aye, ‘Wingknut’

Sporting dirigible balloon. (US 1137212 A), filed January 14th 1915.
I love the hat for steering: “Extending from the forward end of the person 3, is an outwardly extending flat pentagonal hat 8, applied and secured to the head of said person, the purpose of this hat is to keep the head of the person in level position by the aid of its outwardly extending portion. … The hat being provided with a pentagonal plane assists the aviator in making the forwardly ascending and descending courses, by simply moving his head upward or downward, as is obvious.”

Maybe not so crazy...

Thanks, Bill. That's cool and I like it. I'd love to see people steering their personal airships with their hats though. Ah well ... one day. Cheers, 'Wingknut'.
EDIT: And there's these too - credited to Martin (rather than Sarkis) Jelalian but the same kind of funky deal:

Hydro-aerio gliding apparatus for aerial amusement purposes. US 1186580 A, Filing date: 23rd February 1916.

Hand-power-propelled hydroaero sporting dirigible balloon. US 1247960 A, Filing date: 18th April February 1917.

I want one ... Of each kind. Right now.
