Shavit-2 and other experimental rockets from Israel in the 1960's

Shavit 2 was an Israeli sounding rocket, launched on 5 July 1961. It was described as a meteorological rocket but the true story behind it was very different - it was an Israeli stunt to launch a rocket before Egypt will do the same. It was photographed in such a way that it looked very big.
