Scrappy is a great white world demonstrator for a project to develop a super STOL aircraft for aircrew rescue and small team special operations insertion/retrieval. Patey's company has a contract for such development work.

The latest trick Patey has is to haul two electric motorcycles under the wings and have solar panels built into the wings to to store power to recharge the bikes. Sounds like scout team support mission aircraft if there ever was one.

Hey thanks for this. really enjoy listening to the description of how/why he is building.

Scrappy with new carpet installed for the forecast Wednesday night hailstorm that fortunately missed Oshkosh.

Interesting when Mike mentions a "military project" that he can't go into detail about or do any videos of, but that the military project drives what he does with his other projects. White world testing for a grey world project prototype/demonstrator.

My guess is the constant speed prop upgrade for Scrappy he talks about in his video and going to twin turbos on the engine are military project performance requirement driven changes. And I would not be surprised to see an evolution to turbine power like Draco featured for even more performance.

Looks like Mike Patey has become a new Burt Rutan for DARPA/DOD.
