Russian counterpart to A350-1000 and 777X

If they are looking for a contender to the B 777, wouldn't a revamped version of the Il-96 not
do the trick ?

While surfing through the book Unflown Wings, I found out that Ilyushin actually had designs for double-deck versions of the Il-96 with the same passenger capacity as the 777X and A350-1000 (Il-96-550, Il-96-500).
