About this capture
"Polar Presence Vessel

This study presented a preliminary design for a vessel intended to meet the requirement to replace HMS Endurance whilst incorporating elements of the Atlantic Patrol Task (South). This meant combining the capabilities of icebreaker, hydrographic survey and warship into a single vessel with sufficient cargo capacity to provide the required logistic support to the British Antarctic Survey."

I'm not sure is this image is related:

So it appears to be a fully armed warship with a stern ice-breaking ability? When does this study date from? The reference to HMS Endurance certainly dates it before the outright purchase of HMS Protector (ex MV Polarbjørn) in 2013?

The scale of the concept seems to be quite large. This is hardly surprising as the Norwegian Coastguard's replacement for the Nordkapp OPVs, the P6615 or "Jan Mayen class," is pushing 10,000 tons full load displacement.
