We are all familiar I think with the Stidd MRCC submersible boat. For surface travel it has a sharp bow and a pump jet in the stern. Although the hull has some compromises, it is reasonably seaworthy and high performance. For submerged running it switches ends, with a fairing over the pump jet and pop-out hydroplanes and thrusters.

Would the same apply to a larger combatant? A submersible corvette or frigate? (Dry interior of course)

I don't see any way it'd be better than either a real sub or surface warship. But a) is it technically viable b) are there circumstances were it'd be operationally advantageous?
