The first production F-35A AF-6 has been flown. -SP

The development aircraft F-35A AF-05 was canceled.
The F-35A AF-06 is the first Low Rate Initial Production (LRIP) Lot 1 aircraft.

Darn... A likely source of confusion for future aviation historians!
 
Re AF-05 and pictures of AF-06 from LM -

Steve, about five years ago AF-5 was removed from the production plan as the result of a joint government/contractor mid-course review for F-35 System Development and Demonstration.

I might get a liking for this F-35 after all... Time will tell.
 
It will never be like the F-16, but it is growing on me. Still think it is way too heavy.
