I recently found out in the video below about a project to install a MK 108 cannon in the mantlet or the turret roof of a panther tank. I know that it was going to be used as an anti aircraft weapon in order to boost morale of soldiers around the tank, but nothing else. It would be helpful if someone could post here more information about this project, and images if possible. I find this proposal truly interesting:

With the low velocity of the Mk108 cannon it is rather poorly suited for use against aircraft like that.

Agreed, the MK103 would have been a much better choice for that job.

It is a much heavier and longer weapon. Also, it has a much lower rate of fire. It would make much more sense to put such a weapon on a twin mount with proper sights and a dedicated anti-aircraft platform.

That said the Mk-108 is also quite large, and the issue with muzzle velocity is definitely there (making it usable against only the lowest flying targets). The morale explanation makes a bit of sense (and it might even be more effective than the Fliegerfaust in that regard).

It'd be a pretty terrifying weapon in the mounting which could be used against ground targets though.
