Navy Conducts Missile Tests Off San Diego
Last Update: 3/01 8:22 pm
SAN DIEGO - If you saw something in the sky over over the ocean Tuesday afternoon, chances are it was related to a missile test conducted by the Navy.
Officials with the U.S. Third Fleet confirmed the launch was part of a pre-planned training exercise. The missile, a Trident II D5, was launched at approximately 1 p.m., says Commander Greg Hicks.
The massive plume was visible from as far away Mission Bay according to several SanDiego6 viewers.
This was the 135th successful test flight of the Trident missile.
