Myasishchev Aircraft

What was A-209 ?.
I don't think there was ever such a thing as a "Myasishchev A-209".

The only A-209 I know is a Mukhamedov multipurpose twin-engine project, which was to be marketed under the company name Aero-M, and also existed in the A-209M variant. I do not know your source, but it is possible that a Western magazine got mixed up betwen Myasishchev and Mukhamedov. Or perhaps Mukhamedov designed the A-209 for Myasishchev initially? The number "209" would fit in nicely in Myasishchev's "200" series which comprise designs M-200 to M-207. I could find no evidence for such a scenario, however.

Please note that the book on Mukhamedov does NOT mention an "A-209AL", and so I prefer to remove that designation from my post for now.

The work is in progress.

A lot of details and variants are missing:
  • VM-2 was the DVB-102-2.
  • VM-4 was the DVB-102D(N).
  • VM-18 was the DB-4-108.
  • VM-19 was the VB-109. (the mistake "WB-" probably comes from a German language source).
  • DVB-202 was both the VM-22 and the VM-22A.
  • VM-24 was also designated RB-17 and DSB-17 (as you said), but also IDD-17.
  • You forgot the VM-25 (also known as the SDB or Aircraft "M") a 1951 pre-project for the M-2 bomber with swept wings and a butterfly tail, which came before the M-25.
  • The M-25 can be broken down into four variants: the M-4, the Izdeliye 103 record version, the M-4-2 tanker conversion, and the 4M with modified armament configuration.
  • You forgot the VM-26, in fact the TWO VM-26 projects that came before the M-26: one was a 1951 transport with 2 TV-2F turboprops, the other was a 1952-53 long-range fast bomber based on the M-4 but smaller and lighter.
  • The M-26 was a 1960, not 1951, project.
  • I have the "M-28" as VM-28, and it also carried the designations DVE, Izdeliye 28 and 2M.
  • The M-29 was also the M-6P.
  • What you call "M-30-II", I have as another M-30 and M-30-1.
  • M-31 and M-32 can also be found as VM-31 and VM-32.
  • The M-36 (also designated the M-6) came in about fifteen different variants and projects: 3M, 3MS(-1), 3MS-2, 3MN(-1), 3MN-2, 3MR, 3MT, 3MYe, 3MD (M-6D, M-6K-14), 3M-5, 3M2-2, 3M2-3, 3M2-3A, 3M2-4 and 3M2-5.
  • M-37 was the same as Izdeliye 201M.
  • M-38 is not known for certain, but may have been the projected 3M-M flying boat version.
  • M-40 came into four variants: M-40, M-40A, M-40B and M-40G.
  • There was M-41 but also M-41A.
  • There was M-42 but also M-42A.
  • M-45 was divided into M-45A and M-45B.
  • M-48 was also designated VKA-23.
  • The M-50 was not built, and the prototype we know was actually the M-50A.
  • The unflown M-52 prototype was the M-52A, but there was also an M-52K project.
  • The M-55 was actually developed from both the M-53 and M-56. Four variants were studied: M-55, M-55A, M-55B and M-55V.
  • Besides the M-56, there were also M-56K and M-56R projects.
  • M-59 was actually designated M-59K.
  • Besides the M-60, a nuclear-powered flying boat version designated M-60M was also studied.
  • There were TWO M-61 projects: a 1958 supersonic air-to-ground cruise missile, and a later, unspecified one (possibly a pilotless bomber).
  • You forgot the M-62, which was a long-range supersonic bomber project.
I have only given the basic designations, but if you need details about a certain variant, please let me know.

Also, Myasishchev projects that did not receive any VM- or M- designations are as follows:
  • Pe-2A
  • Pe-4, Pe-4A
  • Pe-8
  • DVB-402
  • LK-1
  • M-2 (= 1M)
  • MK (Myasishchev Krylataya)

About your first part of the second series:
  • M-10 has been listed but I have no info.
  • M-15 was PERHAPS related to the Polish "Belphegor" agricultural aircraft.
  • There were FOUR, not three, M-17 Stratosfera prototypes. Also, M-17R and M-17RM Sokol was the first designation for what became the M-55 Geofisika.
  • M-19 can also be found as the MG-19.
