Does anyone know the final disposition of the Terex MX Transporter Emplacer (TE)? This vehicle was designed to support MX deployment in a system of multiple protective shelters linked by above ground roads, the so-called "Racetrack" proposal. In 1979, President Carter announced that 200 MX missiles would be deployed throughout eastern Nevada and western Utah. This plan was later rejected after significant local opposition to the basing plan. I am assuming the TE was subsequently scraped.

A disgraceful act of vandalism, at least one of them should've been preserved in a museum.
They scrapped the Midgetman missile transporter prototypes too, IIRC. They don't seem to keep the prototypes and losing bid designs around. No B-51 tri-jets, P6m Seamasters, 1 p5m Marlin, No p4m Mercators, no Skypirates, no Skysharks, 1 North American AJ Savage.....

This one's at Hill AFB right now. Shame it's just sitting in a field instead of on display. (Apparently, the one that was at Wright Patterson was scrapped.)

No value keeping things around for the sake of it, and a cost to keeping them in decent condition. Most of the things retained will have been either (a) needed for ongoing research, or (b) not cost-effective to scrap either, so just left out of the way to rot.

Sometimes they do. The YF-23s and X-32s are still around.

both TEs were sold at auction and scrapped in mid 90s

A pity someone bring the attention of these TEs to Hollywood's attention as I'm sure there are a few directors/producers such as James Cameron and Michael Bay could've put them to good use in an action or sci-fi film.
