Sorry, a bit late ... : :

Janes 1956-57 said, that the XM-1000 was designed to be powered by a 550 hp P & W Wasp
engine and should have a range of 350 miles with a MOW of 1850 kg. Development of the
XM-1000 was started in conjunction with the "Aeronautical Research Laboratories of the
Australian Department of Supply". So it seems to have been a real project , not just a "What-If" .

It contains a description of the Molyneux helicopter, including the dimensions of its cabin. Also it says that the helicopter would be powered by 450 hp Australian-built CAC Cicada engine (http://www.enginehistory.org/Piston/CAC/cac.shtml).
