Modifying and deleting posts.

I understand sometimes it happens but it would be nice to be told why.

It mostly happens, when a "discussion" gets out of control, words were used, that afterwards are
deplored, people are feeling insulted and pushing the "Report to the moderator" button ...
Those words are often found not only in one post, but in the quotes of later posts, too, and whatever
the reason for those problens were, to me, the best way to safe such a thread from being closed in the
end is to remove all reasons for that quarrel (in the thread, notabene !).
As in every community, there are sympathies, but antipathies, too, here sometimes.
Taking stock of oneself and perhaps deny oneself an answer could often avoid problems !
Isn't ignoring a togher sanction, than showing one's anger ?
