From a NASM document: an unknown to me Rheinmetall-Borsig MK 103 Maschinenkanone, without the usual "Siebloch" muzzle break or the protruding gas piston. The recoil system seems to be totally enclosed, if one has a hawk`s eye. The muzzle brake looks "cannon-like".

That looks more like a flash suppressor than a muzzle brake. I could see a flash suppressor being used, particularly on nightfighter aircraft where muzzle flash would be an issue both for the firing plane's crew and for giving away the plane's position.

I just checked Tony Williams' "Rapid Fire", which makes mention of the MK 103M designed for engine mounting, which doesn't have the familiar muzzle brake (p. 168). However, the drawing in Tony's book (pic. 33 on p.270), presumably based on the photographs he mentions in the text, shows a different gun than the one from the document you posted.

I would love to see that drawing from Tony's book.
