Way out of my depth but I recall thinking years ago that BLACK ARROW looked so like a military missile and if the UK had the resources would be interesting. An mrbm perhaps as a counter to Soviet theatre nukes?

Nice bit of video - d+mn all to do with Black Arrow.

Black Arrow could indeed have made a missile, as could very many other rockets.

The snag is that if it had been deployed in the UK, it would have been as a ground based missile, and ground based missiles in the UK had been eternally damned by the finding of the BND(SG) of 1959.

That's not Black Arrow there at 1:13? Sure looks like it:

Black Arrow was derived to some degree from the military Black Knight launcher, so this movement would bring it full circle.

1. You're quite right about Black Arrow at 1:13 - that was the launch of R0, which turned out to be a disaster.

2. Black Knight was not a military project in the usual sense of that word. It was used for research on a military issue - re-entry vehicles.
