the Mil Mi-27 was a version of Mi-24 and not Mi-26 as mentioned
in some sites.
the source was the magazine Flight,but the issue number I don't
remember it now.

I've never heard of a Mi-27 either way. Pretty sure it wasn't a Mi-24 variant.

Mi-27 was the airborne command post, conversion of Mi-26.
