I am interested especially in the production of the MiG-25P and MiG-25PD, how many of each were built? I can barely find info online as to how many interceptors in total, apparently about 900, which a frustrating lack of details for such an iconic aircraft. Also, how many P were converted to PDS, at least in soviet service?
Of course, if there is a breakdown of R and U variants production aswell, it's most welcome too.

During the years of serial production, 1,112 MiG-25s of all modifications were built at the Gorky Aviation Plant. At the same time, the maximum production rate of the MiG-25 reached 90 cars per year, the labor intensity of production during this time decreased by 10 times. Production of interceptors was discontinued in 1984, and other variants of the "twenty-fifth" in 1985.In 1967 – 1970, Gorky residents built 79 cars, including 1971 – 1975 – 343 pieces, 1976 – 1980 – 402 pieces, 1981 – 1984 – 288 aircraft of all modifications. Including from 1978 to 1984, 104 MiG-25PD were delivered to the customer, in 1984 – 44 MiG-25PD, 38 of them for export. Four prototypes of the MiG-25 were manufactured at the experimental plant of the Mikoyan Design Bureau.

Hello,

Is there a reserve of Mig 25 airframes that could be refurbished for some missions like shooting the Kinzhal missile, or some anti-satellite weapons for instance? I've always thought that using the Mig 31 instead of a more comprenhensive Mig 25 upgrade was a waste of Mig 31 potential considering the few remaining upraded airframes.

Speaking of Mig 31 are there airframes lying around that could be upgraded to Mig 31 BM to increase the numbers?

The MiG-31I series is limited, there are not many of them required. There are quite enough early-series aircraft available in the sludge

Let's replace the word "car" with the word "craft" or "plane"

Thanks for the info Paralay. I do recall reading long time ago on a russian site (maybe militaryparitet.com?) the figure of i think either 422 or 622 (or a number inbetween!) for either just MiG-25P or total interceptor production, but of course i can't find the page in question for the life of me now.

And the MiG-25PD production was surprisingly low, you'd think at least a few hundreds would have been built in 6 years. Presumably it was a cost issue as they focused on upgrading the existing P to PDS rather than new production?

Since the efficiency of the MiG-25PD turned out to be significantly higher than its predecessor, it was decided to convert the previously released MiG-25P into this variant. For this purpose, since 1979, MiGs have been transported from aviation regiments to repair plants in the cities of Pumpny, Dnepropetrovsk and Zaporozhye, where they were equipped with new equipment during major repairs. The modified vehicles received the designation MiG-25PDS. Aircraft modifications continued until 1982.

At that time, the plant was switching to the production of the MiG-31, the production of the MiG-25 was declining naturally.
