What's the maximum altitude a weather balloon can fly at?

KJ Lesnick

Slightly off topic, the highest altitude a balloon ever reached is 170 000 ft (Winzen Research Balloon, 1972, California)

It depends what you mean by a 'weather balloon'; but this, guy, for example -

- sent a research package to 100,000 feet.

and ı believe Kittinger , an USAF test pilot parachuted from 100 000 plus in a test in 1950s .
