I am looking for a specific aviation fiction book that I read years ago but cannot for the life of me remember the name or author. The plot goes something like this.
The US and China are in a fight for domination in the South China Sea. The US has a female president (IIRC). China detonates a small nuclear device on an uninhabited atoll to intimidate the US. The rest of the book is about a group of USAF personnel as well as the US president as they respond to the threat. I also remember that the daughter of one of the US characters (General IIRC) dies in a place crash due to a combination of human and mechanical errors.
Would greatly appreciate the name of this book as I want to read it again
