Hi,

the Lockheed XFV-2 was proposed production version (Model 181-43-02) was to have been powered by
the T54-A-16 turboprop, incorporating a bullet-proof windshield, armor and radar in the fixed forward
part of the nose spinner. The proposed armament was four 20 mm cannon fitted in the two wingtip
pods. Alternatively, 48 2​3⁄4-inch folding-fin rockets could be fitted.

That's Info on Wikipedia,and has anyone a drawing or more Info about it ?.

but it was also XFV-1,and not XFV-2 ?.
 
The Wikipedia entry is probably in error.

XFV-1 was non-standard anyway under the USN designation system. Properly it should have been XF1V and a production type would therefore of have been F1V-2.
 
Designation XFV-1 explained:
X - eXperimental
F - Fighter
V - Lockheed
-1 - first subtype.

Compare with -
Consolidated PBY-5:
PB - Patrol Bomber
Y - Consolidated
-5 - fifth subtype

Consolidated PB2Y-1:
PB2 - Second Patrol Bomber manufactured by-
Y - Consolidated
-1 - first subtype

PB1Y was never used, likewise Grumman TBF Avenger was not designated TB1F. Compare with Goodyear FG-1, General Motors/Eastern Aircraft FM-1, etc.
The type number by manufacturer was only used if 2 or higher, so XFV-1 was a logical designation in the US Navy designation system.
 
That is true, I was forgetting that particular foible. So yes, a production version probably would have been FV-2.
