LEGO Apollo Saturn V (39 inch Model)

on June 1, 2017, LEGO will release a box for Saturn V with Apollo 11
a 1:110 scale brick model of the original, in almost 2000 pieces
standing it's about 39 inches, or 99 centimeters.
Model include Lunar Lander, Apollo capsule, three mini astronauts and American flag
it will be retail for $200 USD and will be available at LEGO stores around the world and online from June on.

I hope they offer also additional set like the Launch tower or Skylab configuration !

My son has just bought that and built it up. A most impressive model I do say. It comes with some tiny figures that are to scale and measure 1/2" (12.6mm) so that makes it 1/144 scale too if anyone is interested.

took a few days to build - but here it is. I found that many shops that stock lego just would not have any left, or never had any at all. the best way i got my hands on one was via eBay !! Lego underestimated demand so the set is sold out, there are indications there'll be a second production run soon so don't pay silly prices on eBay...

I'll get some done on the weekend, my son can then show how the lander can be placed inside the top section. On the internet I found some photos of it compared to the Dragon 1/72 model of the same thing.
Quick question first though, can I post photos directly onto the forum, or does it have to go through a 3rd party host?

I should mention the figures that come with the model are not your normal Lego figures. They look like the real astronauts in shape.

Just for fun in this topic, I made the Tournesol rocket, ten years ago ... Styro, wood, paper, glue, paint ... and hours ! Today I restore it because many accidents have broken a little the ailerons ! LEGO are better in this case !!!

The Corsair 1/72 give the scale (1200 mm high...).

It should be possible to build a LEGO launch tower with standard bricks. I thought that was the point of LEGO

It is possible to do that. IIRC the designers of the tower have released a list of parts you can plug into e.g. BrickLink to buy the parts.
