Whut?Oyodo was at one point conceived as flight deck cruiser?Given the Japanese preliminaries for the Shokaku and the role of the Oyodo this makes sense, but I'd never heard anything about it. (Not that I have ever paid much attention to the Oyodo) Do you have any citations or stats on the ship in that design phase? 8000 tons is awfully small for a carrier landing.
