Does a company also acquire an acquisition's legacy when a purchased company is absorbed?

Well, yes. I guess. In a legal sense anyway. But one doesn't speak of Boeing P-51's as a general rule. It's a bit sordid. The kicker is there would be plenty of Boeing highlights to add behind that commercial without making a claim on any of the products by competitors it assimilated.
