Lakota ancestry: Army Aviation Systems Command BK117A-1 trials for air to air

Dear all,

Came across this in Paul Beaver's Attack Helicopters published by Arms & Armour 1987 and it says that a lone BK-117A-1 was used by US Army Aviation Systems Command to evaluate air to air combat as along with other platforms. The airframe was tested at Pax River in 1986 onwards.

Apparently the program didn't last very long. The aircraft was written off in 1989 following a crash.
