In 1930, with the discontinuation of the Klemm L.20 and L.25 models and the trend towards more powerful engines, Klemm looked at an inexpensive way of converting around 8,000 trained glider pilots to powered flight. To this end the company developed the Alpha. As far as I can see, the sole example registered as D-2217 undertook test flights at FAG Böblingen in 1930/31, but was not adopted.
