The Kawasaki C-1 is a Japanese military transport jet with a special variant. The C-1 QSTOL or Asuka was a C-1 that was heavily modified to make it a testbed for Quiet Short Take-Off and Landing (QSTOL) technologies.

Where did they get the idea? The inspiration may go back as far as Coanda.
